Is there a connection between Sugar Metabolism and the Biological Clock?

Healthy weight loss knowledgeThe Biological clock and the metabolic system are totally connected. However how will this information assist us with our weight loss.  According to researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, learning more about the biological rhythms of patients suffering from various ailments can help doctors to more effectively administer medicine, particularly anti-inflammatory drugs. This is because the researchers were able to discern how cryptochromes and glucocorticoid receptors interact.

What are Cryptochromes?
They are the proteins that control the biological rhythms in the human body; they are also affected by anti-inflammatory drugs.

What are Glucocorticoids?
They are the body’s natural steroid hormones that regulate blood sugar levels–their job is to make sure people’s blood sugar levels are lowered while they sleep and then raised when they wake; this allows people to maximize the efficiency their energy use. Glucocortids also interact with anti-inflammatory drugs and this has exposed the missing-link between cryptochromes and Glucocortids. Together, they regulate the blood sugar and the biological rhythms or what is often called the biological clock.

While scientists and doctors plan to harness this information for pharmaceutical purposes, it can also be used to help people understand their body’s natural rhythms. This way, people can be more conscious of both what they eat and how their body is using what they eat based on their sleep and rest patterns. Think about it. When are people most active during the day? When are they least active? It is important for people to take the time to get to know their activity levels and then find a way to eat healthily in a way that will make the most effective use of the relationship between the biological clock and the metabolic system. For people who are interested in weight loss, this is definitely something they should be more aware of. It seems like common sense, and now the science confirms it.  The body knows when to lower and raise blood sugar based on when people are resting and moving. This is information that people can use to their weight loss advantage.

Important Tip for Weight Loss
This reinforces the statement: “Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for breakfast”.  This means most of the calories are taken in at the beginning of the day so they will be burnt off during the daily activities, and the same with lunch.  However at night we only require a small meal as we have reduced our activity to a minimum.  Of course this is in general as there are people who work evenings and night shifts so they will need to adjust their eating to fit in with their day to day activities.

The human body is quite amazing; when people work with it instead of against it, they will see that it optimizes everything, even all the way down to the molecular level. Everything in the body is affected by everything else and thus it is important people find a way to be more conscious of these various symbiotic relationships–including the one between their biological clock and their metabolic system. Weight loss is about finding balance and an equilibrium; it is about finding the best weight for each individual body. Thus, it is important people take the time to learn their body’s unique biological rhythms and reap the weight loss rewards.

Four Powerful Benefits of Medihoney

For hundreds of years honey has been used to heal ulcers and cure wounds. And it is now making a comeback in the form of Medihoney, a potent weapon against wounds and bacteria specifically derived from plants in Australia and New Zealand. Even mainstream medicine has opened its eyes on this one, and Medihoney products are now being used in hospitals across the world to do what antibiotics often can't: kill increasingly resistant and deadly Straphyloccus aureus (bacteria) and fully heal infected patients.

Medihoney is the perfect natural antibiotic because it has the right balance of sugar-this equilibrium both cleans the injured flesh and prevents the growth of bacteria. It is common knowledge that modern day antibiotics are becoming less and less effective due to overuse and evolving strains of bacteria. However, the bacteria don't seem to be able to figure out how to evade Medihoney.

According to medical experts and microbiologists Medihoney has the following benefits:

  1. Protects the body against bacteria resistant to drugs
  2. Protects wounds against recurring bacterial infections or new bacterial infections
  3. Creates a healing environment in the wound that is characterized by moisture; consequently new cells have a chance to grow and thrive
  4. Helps remove dead tissue in the wound

Medihoney is also a wonder treatment because it can be used at any stage of the healing process. This is especially useful for ailments like bed sore, which are not always identified right away.

In addition to healing wounds and ulcers, Medihoney or manuka honey can be used to fight infections like strep throat and tonsillitis. It is also an excellent weapon against the common cold and the flu. Even if you aren't sick or suffering, drinking a glass of warm water with lemon and honey is a good way to detox your system and flush out any harmful substances that could cause damage to your health in the future.

Medihoney and manuka honey provide a point of intersection in the alternative and mainstream medical communities, something that doesn't seem to happen all too often these days. Thus it can only benefit you to have some of this medically powerful substance on hand. Take it on trips or keep it in your home. You never know when infection or injury will strike, and it is always good to have one of nature's most powerful healers as nearby as possible. It is no exaggeration-Medihoney is indeed a magical thing.

What Else Causes Lung Cancer Beside Smoking?

Scientist researching cure for cancerLung cancer is the leading cause of death among both male and female people who suffer from cancer. It is also an incredibly painful, torturous disease, something that nobody should have to experience.

While many are aware of lung cancer, many also think that lung cancer and cigarettes are interchangeable terms; that is, many people think that only smokers die from lung cancer. But it is caused by more than just tobacco.

Of course, tobacco use is undoubtedly the main cause of lung cancer worldwide with smokers accounting for 85-90% of lung cancer deaths. Consequently, the disclaimer here should be obvious: if you don't smoke then don't start and if you do smoke then do stop. However, it is important for you to know about all the risks out there-and indeed, some of them seem to be virtually unstoppable.

Aside from cigarette smoking, there are 5 other main causes of lung cancer according to Dr. Joseph Mercola. These include:

  1. Frequent exposure to radon
  2. Frequent exposure to asbestos
  3. Frequent exposure to air pollution
  4. Frequent exposure to chemicals
  5. Aging

As you can see, these lung cancer triggers are a part of the larger picture of pollution problems that are a direct result of the industrialization of our planet. Things like asbestos and radon are in many ways avoidable (though you can always unwittingly fall victim to their poisons) but general air pollution is something that everyone is exposed to, with virtually no chance for escape.

So what can you do to protect yourself? First, you can avoid what you can avoid. Don't smoke, stay away from asbestos, and try to be as chemical free as possible. To combat the pollution that you are exposed to, eat a healthy diet and stock up on antioxidants-Omega-3 oils in wild salmon, acai berries, kale, grapefruits and tomatoes are just a few of the many antioxidant rich foods that can help you fight cancer-causing free radicals. Get as much exercise as you can and try to avoid eating processed food-it only exposes you to more dangerous chemicals.

Lung cancer kills and it comes from more than just cigarettes. But never forget that smoking is the main cause of lung cancer. It is something you can no longer make excuses for. If you want to lead a healthy and fulfilling life, then you need to kick your tobacco habit. Enlist the help of a smoking cessation coach, such as a hypnotherapist, and take your first steps to a healthier body and happier mind.

Quit Smoking in 60 minutes

Does smoking cause hearing loss?

You are undoubtedly familiar with the fact that smoking leads to many horrible illnesses: lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema…the list goes on and on. But did you know that smoking tobacco has also been linked to hearing loss?

According to a study published in The Journal of American Medical Association in 1998, smoking has been linked to hearing loss in adults. Apparently, smoking tobacco affects hearing in the following ways:

  1. Impairs the body's ability to repair damaged blood vessels
  2. Damages blood vessels that support the healthy functioning of the ear's various systems
  3. Impedes the repair of the hair cells or the sound receptors in the ear

The study found that about 30 to 35% of adults between 65 and 75 suffer from hearing loss and there is no coincidence that this population is from the generation in which smoking was most prevalent. Even if you yourself are not a smoker, your hearing can still be damaged; the study also found that people who either live with or spend significant amounts of time with smokers are twice as likely to suffer from some form of hearing loss.

So what can you do to protect your hearing? Quit smoking and quit being around people who smoke. If you find yourself struggling with a tobacco habit, you may be saying that quitting sounds fine and good in theory but in practice it is much harder-you want more specifics on how to help yourself quit smoking.

One excellent method of smoking cessation is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy helps smokers to understand that smoking is first and foremost a habit and not an addiction; from there, smokers are able to use the aid of hypnosis to unlearn old habits and thought processes and relearn newer, healthier ones. This is done by a kind of guided meditation in which a hypnotherapist helps you to enter a deep state of relaxation and then helps you to form new habits by way of suggestions in this relaxed state. It is the true art of mind over matter and one of the safest, most effective methods of smoking cessation around.

Many people get caught up in believing that smoking is an addiction and you may be one of them. However, smoking is actually a psychosocial habit and creating new ways of perceiving the world and yourself can help you to break free of the chains of Big Tobacco. If you want a fresh, tobacco free start for your mind, body and soul, then take the time to look more closely at hypnosis smoking cessation.
